Delegated voting http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proxy_voting#Delegated_voting

Politicians are business are organized because that is the nature of their existance. People are not organized. Business and politics wins over people because organization beats disorganization.

Choice is not power. Negotiation is power. That is why workers need a right to strike even when they have the choice to leave their job and find another one.Delegated voting gives every vote the power of negotiation.

Most of corporate America uses delegated voting to elect their boards, yet the people are left to defend themselves with an undelegatable vote when electing public officials.

Rather than having political change come through martyrdom and altruism, organizing people with delegated voting would allow people to empower themselves by empowering the people they represent.

Most districts allow for proxy votes in extenuating circumstances: namely, immobility and travel outside of the district. With a flick of the pen proxy voting could be expanded to all voters, and extended to delegated voting.

My feeling is that this is the solution that fixes all other problems. From finances, to business, media, corruption. If the people can organize then all other problems become manageable.There would still be fights to be had and risks to be taken. An organized electorate make them worth taking.

Interesting post it sounds like delegated voting is like a political union for the people yes? I would say in addition removing special interest lobbies from the mix is also essential to fixing the corrupted political system in America.
Everything I am, is wrapped up on the fact that I was born a freeman, and if I am ever to allow government the opportunity to take away these freedoms than everything I am goes with it.

Delegated voting is an extension of proxy voting. With proxy voting a voter, the "principal", may designate another voter, the "proxy", to cast his vote for him. With delegated voting a proxy can transfer his vote and that of his principal to yet another proxy.

Principal -> ProxyA -> ProxyB

This transfer of votes creates voting blocks that can excercise greater negotiating power than the individuals would on their own.

PrincipalA(1) ->
PrincipalB(1) ->ProxyA(4) ->
PrincipalC(1) ->
                                                      ProxyC(9)
PrincipalD(1) ->
PrincipalE(1) ->ProxyB(4) ->
PrincipalF(1) ->

Any one of these parties alone would have 1 vote. They would be presented with a choice of candidates. When their votes are delegated to ProxyC, who has the power of 9 votes, he would have to negotiating power to change the terms of the offer, rather than passively choosing an option.

When PrincipalA gets to delegate his vote to somebody he trusts, ProxyA, he would be less likely to cast a ballot directly for CandidateA even if he filled the air waves with his picture. In politics money is media. When media doesn't matter special interest gets to watch rather than play.

1. If your district used this system would you vote for the candidate, or would you delegate to a proxy? Why?

2. Do you think anybody would delegate their vote to you? How many votes do you think you would get to cast?

3. Do you think delegated voting would organize people into more effective negotiation blocks? If so, what do you think would be the effect of those blocks? Why?
