Former Colorado Senator, Univesity of Colorado President, Middle East Sub-Committee Chair and BCCI investigator Hank Brown was confronted by members of WeAreChange Colorado on Saturday. Among the various topics of discussion were 9/11, Pakistani ISI, Saudi Arabia, and the Bank of Commerce and Credit International. When asked about his take on the September attacks, Brown stated that he thought it was strange that the Clinton Administration and the CIA weren't interested in peace talks between the Taliban and Pakistan. He stated that the CIA had warned him of a price tag on his head put out by Osama Bin Laden, but was frustrated that the Clinton Administration made no efforts to pursue Bin Laden for his threats to acting US Senators. Brown was perplexed when asked about the 9/11 hijackers' training at secure US military facilities, which prompted him to agree to support a new investigation into 9/11.
Brown said that members of WeAreChange Colorado were right to suspect that much of the funding of terrorism can be linked to networks involved with the Bank of Commerce and Credit International, which he and Senator Kerry had investigated. Brown characterized a criminal syndicate behind much of the illegal gun running and drug trafficking, who were involved in BCCI. He stated the it was his opinion that the CIA had an ongoing policy to protect the BCCI as well as lamenting the fact that former President Jimmy Carter had been pressured into promoting BCCI in various African countries.
The conversation ended with a discussion over the intentions of the War Powers Act and the Continuity of Government system. Brown stated that in Washington, 'the addiction to power is not confined to one party", while languishing the fact that the War Powers Act had been allowed to expire. He stated that Washington and the judicial system tended to disregard any constitutional requirements for the Congress to have the final say in a declaration of war.
