Greenspan: Good chance of U.S. recession
| Reuters | Jan. 30, 2008
The likelihood of the U.S. economy slipping into recession is at least 50 percent, former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan was quoted on Wednesday as saying. “I believe the probability of a recession is at least 50 percent, but up to now there are few signs that we are already in one,” Greenspan said in an interview with weekly newspaper Die Zeit published in German. “In my opinion, it will probably happen but the facts suggest we are not there yet.” Read

Obama takes big risk on driver's license issue
| By Carolyn Lochhead | San Francisco Chronicle | Jan. 28, 2008
Sen. Barack Obama easily won the African American vote in South Carolina, but to woo California Latinos, where he is running 3-to-1 behind rival Sen. The U.S. Economy Faces the Guillotine
| By Daniel Gross | NEWSWEEK | Jan. 27, 2008
America is on the road to recession, and many predict a worldwide slowdown. But it's a new economic order, and the emerging markets could take the lead. When a group of community volunteers rang the bell to signal the close of trading at the New York Stock Exchange last Friday, it brought to a close one of the most tumultuous weeks in global markets since the fall of 2001. Why Bush Wants to Legalize the Nuke Trade with Turkey
| According to FBI whistleblower Sibel Edmonds, there is a vast black market for nukes, and certain U.S. officials have been supplying sensitive nuclear technology information to Turkish and Israeli interests through its conduits. It's a scathing allegation which was first published by the London Times two weeks ago, and Edmonds' charge seems to be on the verge of vindication.

Health Threat From EU and UN
| In the endless war between liberty and government regulation, we have an opportunity to win an important battle, one that will promote the health of Americans. This one is over the freedom to choose one’s diet and food supplements, and the opponents are a formidable assemblage of world powers: the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the European Union, groups pushing for a North American Union, and the large international pharmaceutical companies. The ringleader is an obscure, but powerful, United Nations bureaucracy with the curious moniker of “Codex Alimentarius.”
