Ron Paul Breaks Single-Day Primary Fundraising Record

By Jonathan | TruthAlliance.net | Dec. 17, 2007

The goal was simple, get all the donations to be dumped on one day to achieve media attention as the largest single-day primary fund raising campaign contribution ever. Ron Paul succeeded at beating John Kerry's previous record surpassing him by almost $1 million with $6.3 million in web donations and another $400,000 in mail in donations still being added.

Donations started funneling in early in the morning, Dec 16th as American citizens from all over dumped their own money into the donations campaign site for Presidential hopeful Ron Paul. Jesse Benton, the Paul campaign spokesman, said the median was approximately $50.

26,321 first time donators joined the already 62,165 strong populated donations, this week alone. Jonathan Bydlak, the fund raising director for Ron Paul 2008, had a goal of achieving over 25,000 first time donators and had his goal also met surpassing his expectation by more than 1,300 individuals.

What triggered so many people to coordinate this event? The Boston Tea Party '07, which has been advertised for months, has received 33,539 pledges in its campaign. The 234th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party was a grassroots effort which was not associated with the official Ron Paul Campaign.

The success of Ron Paul's internet buzz has been one of the factors placing him in the category of one of the front runners for public opinion and rising. With over 70,000 meetup groups across the nation, Ron Paul has hundreds of thousands of campaign organizers working entirely for free to promote this great American for President of the United States. Ron Paul's political stance has been widely appreciated among Republican and Democrat supporters bringing a productive community together among the heated duel usually seen between the parties.

If the reported number holds up when officially reported to the Federal Election Commission in early January, Paul will not only be the only Republican candidate to oppose the Iraq war, he'll be the only GOP candidate to increase fundraising totals each quarter this year -- from $640,000 to $2.4 million to $5.1 million to whatever this quarter's final total becomes above $18 million with two weeks to go.

He made me change to republican. I hope he really is everything he says he is.
I'd be sad if we all got duped.
